Flags and Pennants › Mobile Depot Battle flag WD 447

Mobile Depot Battle flag WD 447

$409.00

Battle flags of this type are believed to have been made by the Mobile Alabama Depot for the Confederate Department of Alabama, Mississippi & East Louisiana as well as for many units of the Army of Tennessee beginning in 1863.
These were issued to Polk’s/Stewarts Corps of the AOT. The 39th North Carolina Infantry Regiment being one the regiments to receive this flag.
Our reproduction is made of wool bunting like the originals. The Mobile Depot generally made Battle flags with 12 stars rather than 13, one theory is that they were given an early Virginia Battle flag to copy which had 12 stars.
These flags are wool with cotton stars and are hand sewn and have a pole sleeve.
Our reproduction is based on a flag captured at the battle of Fort Blakely, Alabama by Captain Henery A. miller of the 8th Illinois Infantry, April 7th, 1865. Other flags of this type were also captured at the Battle of Flanklin Tennessee in November of 1864. Made by N.J. Sekela.
***NOTE the flagpole sleeve is a little large for a standard “coat hanger rod “from Lowes or Home Depot so if using that for a flagpole you will need to sew it up tighter or use a wider pole.
