Footwear › #516NS British "Northampton" Brogans

#516NS British "Northampton" Brogans

$260.00

These brogans are copied from the pair worn by a Confederate soldier, the original brogans are at The Atlanta History Center in Atlanta Georgia. These brogans exhibit the hallmark traits of British made brogans, with brass eyelets, leather pull tabs, wooden pegs in the soles and high-quality construction. The photos of Confederate dead at Fort Mahone in Petersburg Virginia appears to be the same brogans. I have personally wanted a pair since first seeing the originals myself, it was only natural that I had Nicholas Sekela make a reproduction of these to be available to everyone. The brogans did not have a name that I am aware of so I have chosen to call these “NORTHAMPTON” brogans after the city where so many companies had their shoe making factories located in England, Companies such as Tunner Brothers, Issac & Campbell and many others. In the year 1864 over 540,000 pairs of shoes were purchased by Confererate agents in Britian. Other years had similar numbers as well.
